From Calabria, the departure port is Villa San Giovanni, while from Sicily, ferries depart from Messina Tremestieri.
Vans weighing less than 3.5 tons can also board from Messina Rada San Francesco. For coaches, the boarding point in Messina is Rada San Francesco.
The crossing between Tremestieri and Villa San Giovanni takes approximately 45 minutes, while from Rada San Francesco, the crossing time is about 20 minutes.

From Messina:
- For vehicles over 3.5 tons, boarding is from the Port of Tremestieri. Take the Tremestieri motorway exit and follow the signs for Caronte & Tourist – Ferries Messina to Villa San Giovanni.
- For vehicles under 3.5 tons, boarding is also available from Rada San Francesco. Take the Messina Boccetta motorway exit and follow the signs for Caronte & Tourist – Ferries Messina to Villa San Giovanni.
From Villa San Giovanni:
- For all types of commercial vehicles, boarding is from the Port of Villa San Giovanni. Take the Villa San Giovanni motorway exit and follow the signs for Caronte & Tourist – Ferries to Sicily.

The ferry crossing between Messina and Villa San Giovanni takes approximately 45 minutes when departing from or arriving at Tremestieri Port, and about 20 minutes when using Rada San Francesco.
You must carry a valid ID, your travel ticket (either printed or digital), and the vehicle registration document for the commercial vehicle.
At the port:
- Proceed to the lanes dedicated to commercial vehicles
- Make sure to enter the lane corresponding to your vehicle type
- After ticket verification, remain inside your vehicle and follow the instructions given by the staff
On board:
- Park your vehicle following the crew's directions
- Turn off the engine
- Engage the handbrake
- Leave the vehicle in gear
You can board luggage free of charge and with no weight limits. Commercial samples up to a maximum of 20 kg are also allowed.

The Telepass and UnipolMove electronic payment devices allow you to travel on Caronte & Tourist ferries connecting Sicily and Calabria while staying comfortably inside your vehicle, skipping the queues at the ticket offices.
When you arrive at the port:
- Use the dedicated lane for your electronic payment device
- Stop at the ticket issuance terminal
- Collect the printed ticket issued by the system
- Proceed to the boarding area following the signs
The crossing fee will be automatically charged to your Telepass or UnipolMove account.
