Siremar, short for Sicilia Regionale Marittima, has represented territorial continuity between Sicily and its smaller surrounding islands for half a century.
Founded in 1975 in accordance with Law 169 of May 19, aimed at the strategic reorganization of Italian maritime transport, it played a crucial role for decades in providing an essential public service both for island residents and for tourist flows.
On April 12, 2016, during an official ceremony held in the Sala dei Baroni at the Chiaramonte-Steri Palace in Palermo, we formalized the acquisition of Siremar by the subsidiary Caronte & Tourist Isole Minori, marking a new beginning for this historic company.
The acquisition made it possible to integrate and enhance the expertise previously developed by NGI (Navigazione Generale Italiana) and Traghetti delle Isole, both of which are now fully incorporated into the operational structure of C&T Isole Minori. This 55.1 million transaction represented a significant challenge for the Group embraced with responsibility and passion.
