What is the fuel surcharge?
The fuel surcharge, also known as bunker surcharge or BAF, refers to the variable part of maritime fares that represents the additions due to oil prices.
How is it calculated?
At the end of each month, the percentage variation is calculated between the average Platts Gasoil index (in euros) of the current month and the Platts Gasoil index (in euros) of the previous month.
The calculated percentage variation will determine the increase or decrease (rounded to the first decimal place) of the “bunker surcharge” component on the ticket price, which will be applied starting from the first day of the following month.
What are ETS and FuelEU Maritime?
